our beliefs

Paramount Baptist Church is a Bible-grounded ministry. The Bible is our “GPS” for life. We believe in the inerrancy, authority and sufficiency of the Bible, and hold to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.

our history

In 1958, a group of dedicated believers in Amarillo, Texas, left the comfort of First Baptist Church to plant a new church on the southwest side of the city. With faith in their hearts, they initially met at Paramount Terrace Elementary School to serve the spiritual needs of the growing community. By September 14, 1958, forty-five people gathered to plan future services, and land was secured at 3801 South Western. On May 31, 1959, Paramount Baptist Church was officially organized with 337 charter members.

The congregation of Paramount Baptist Church moved into a new building on November 6, 1960, and continued to grow rapidly. They added a new educational building in 1966 and an 800-seat auditorium in 1972. Expansion continued with additional educational facilities completed in 1976 and another in 1994. In 2004, the acquisition of the Paramount Terrace campus, across the street, added an additional 90,000 square feet of educational space, a gym, a 600-seat auditorium, and an office suite for all staff.
Today, Paramount is a vibrant community dedicated to glorifying God by making followers of Christ through the love of Christ. The church celebrates a diverse and multigenerational congregation, with a strong senior community, a growing young adult population, and vibrant children and student ministries. Weekly services are offered in English, Spanish, Arabic, and Amharic.

The people of Paramount gather in services to hear clear and applicable verse-by-verse preaching each week. Most of the congregation is involved in dynamic Sunday School programs, where every age group has opportunities for Bible teaching and fellowship. Opportunities to minister abound, and a priority is placed on "sharing our story" with others so that they can hear how God has changed lives through His glorious gospel.

our culture

The gospel is good news about the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. It is for both unbelievers and believers for all of life. It is the hope for our church and our community. We must point all to this good news that salvation is a free gift of God through Jesus Christ.
Our ministries are built upon, shaped by, and saturated with the faithful, expositional, and applicable proclamation of the word of God.
God has designed the church to be a community of Christ followers committed to loving and serving. We are not in this alone. Every one of us is committed to the growth of all of us. We understand the work God has given us to do and we are intentional in the pursuit of our own discipleship and the discipleship of others. We warmly welcome our church family and our friends in the community.
We are committed to taking the good news of the gospel to people locally, nationally, and internationally. We will do this through personal evangelism, local outreach, church revitalization, church planting, and missions. Our time, talent, and treasure will confirm our commitment to this.
We expect God to work in us, by His Spirit, through His Word, to make us more like His Son; and to empower us for life and ministry.
